Job Description

As part of our growth in the Brazilian market, we are looking for a dedicated in-market service provider to join us as a Wine Sourcing Advisor. You will be responsible for strategizing with the Americas team to build Vivino’s marketplace in Brazil and be the eyes and ears in the market.

Sourcing, Negotiation, Account Management, Marketing, and Wine Importing/Compliance Regulations.

As we grow our Brazilian Market, we need to have a wine expert that can help the Country Manager secure the best supply and design an importing process. This role will have a background in wine sales in Brazil and experience in e-commerce sales would be a plus. This sourcing advisor would need to be a skilled negotiator with the objective of uncovering the most compelling wines at the best price to offer to our users in Brazil.

The main part of the job will be for you to:

  • Design and implement an importing process with main merchants.
  • Partner with Vivino subsidiaries in the US and EU to import new products into Brazil.
  • Discover prospects and negotiate pricing for direct import with wineries.
  • Secure additional supply for seasonal campaigns.
  • With the support of Vivino data deep dive into our current merchant partner’s portfolios for opportunities for promotions and great offers to our users.
  • Understand in-market wine trends at different levels of consumer preference (ie entry-level, connoisseur, etc) and partner with the Country Manager to enhance those trends with data from the Vivino database finding wine opportunities that can highlight these trends.
  • Generate compelling wine content for CRM campaigns that provide interesting details regarding a wine matching consumer needs and preferences delivered in the ‘Vivino’ voice.
  • Partner with the Americas Sourcing Team and Category Manager to identify opportunities in SKUs, styles, and brands and secure them for Vivino customers.
  • Constantly canvas the Brazilian market understanding competitor’s tactics as well as general pricing and new trends in the wine industry.
  • Establish partnerships with key new merchants to build our supply as opportunities arise.

Adding to the above, you will also:

  • Develop, manage and negotiate procurement of wine via partnerships and direct relationships with wineries, brokers, importers, retailers, and distributors.
  • Provide key partners and suppliers with account management support. This includes organizing and managing weekly touch bases to go over opportunities with new wines.
  • In partnership with Country Manager create unique meaningful localized marketing campaigns that will increase cart conversion for Brazilian users.
  • Understand the process, costs, and timing for importing wine into Brazil.
  • Stay up to date on regulations regarding wine importing taxes, tariffs, and requirements.

Broad understanding and knowledge of the Brazilian eCommerce wine market

We hope to see that you have a broad understanding of the Brazilian eCommerce wine market, provincial alcohol regulations, operations, and a specialized knowledge of getting the best supply at the best prices and through which partners. You have experience with DTC carriers in Brazil and the benefits of one over the other, and you understand the supply chain, fulfillment, warehouse management, and package deliverability KPIs.

Furthermore, we hope to see that you have and can demonstrate:

  • 3-5 years as a sales professional in the Brazilian wine industry selling to multiple states in Brazil with demonstrable knowledge of wines, varietals, and the winemaking process.
  • 1-2 years in the Brazilian wine e-commerce industry.
  • Experience in importing wine into Brazil.
  • Proven experience in managing and growing supply with direct partners.
  • Effective communication and team-building skills are required.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others in order to manage supply effectively.
  • Ability to initiate impactful new projects and programs driving and owning them through meetings, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Proven track record in team performance.
  • Strong analytical and analysis skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
