The Senior Engineering Manager job is to manage a large growing engineering organization, across different teams and different technologies; to build high-performance teams that deliver high quality technical solutions adding value within the earliest possible stage.
Responsibilities:
- Set and fulfil the engineering hiring plan, including: staffing, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and engagement of top talent.
- Manage, motivate, coach and mentor the current engineering managers and support their professional growth and career development.
- Work along engineering managers to increase team productivity making sure we have the right team to get the job done and help them to implement effective engineering processes.
- Bring a strong perspective that inspires change and motivates Engineering Managers (direct reports) to develop simple solutions to complex problems.
- Advocate and advance modern software development and engineering best practices.
- Meet with other Senior Engineering Managers (peers) to align engineering-wide priorities and develop a strong engineering culture.
- To be a reference in our culture so that it can transmit to the team and be the basis for decision making.
- Represent Tiendanube engineering team in industry events
Requirements
Academic background:
- Having finished a degree in: computer science, software engineering, or similar degree.
Experience and skills required:
- Several years of being an Engineering Manager or a Senior Engineering Manager role.
- Experience in building high performing engineering teams.
- Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring engineering teams or managers.
- Highly organized: with many teams working on many projects in a fast-moving company, strong organizational skillsboth for yourself and for the teamwill be required.
- You are able to weigh several (and often conflicting) constraints and make rapid decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Have the flexibility to work on different projects with different people and care deeply about generating results and impact.
- You possess strong written / verbal communication skills and can clearly articulate desired outcomes.
- Excellent analytical skills, ROI focus and critical eye.
- Being a strong advocate of software engineering best practices bringing a disciplined approach to testing, continuous delivery and reducing technical debt.
- Embrace feedback as a tool for personal and professional growth, both receiving it and giving it to others.
- Deep knowledge of web development best practices, tools and processes.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies.
Plus
- Previous experience working with startups culture and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Fluent english and/or portuguese speaker.
- Previous experience working with SaaS companies with ecosystem successfully program.
- Experience in APIs design, with HTTP protocol knowledge.
